Happy Birthday!!

I can't quite believe that I'm 29, and that this time next year I'll be the 30 years old. For as long as I can remember, my birthday comes hand in hand with some awful weather that usually makes it impossible for people to get into whatever city I'm in to celebrate. However, this year everything fell into place and I had one of the best birthday nights out I've had in a really long time.

The celebrations started a day early since my sister was working on my actual birthday. She bought me lots of gorgeous lush products and The Book of You, and then we went out for some food and cocktails. Then in the evening, I met up with my friend Anna for more drinks to see out my last day being 28.

My mum and brother came through to Edinburgh on Saturday so we could spend the day together. I was showered with presents including a NUTRIBULLET (Can you tell I'm excited about it?), shopping vouchers, books, accessories and some amazing vegan clothes and jewellery.

If that wasn't enough, my mum made me the best vegan birthday cake I have ever seen.

We all went to Nova Pizza Vegetarian Kitchen for some food where I had lasagne and huge slice of chocolate cheesecake. I'll be doing a blog post tomorrow on it - so keep your eyes peeled for that. I have a feeling it's going to become my new favourite vegan place to eat in Edinburgh this year.

I spent last night surrounded by some of the best friends I could ask for. My favourite people from The Playhouse were there, as well as my two best friends, Cara and Jenn. There was vodka, coconut cocktails, and some really nice presents including a hula hoop.

I have a feeling that 29 is going to be a really good year!

What's Been Happening - The October Issue

Once again, I'e failed to properly blog during October. So here's a little update on what is happening right now (well that parts I can talk about anyway).

Last weekend, I got to watch one of my best friends from uni get married. The BAJO girls minus Zee were all there at the Vue in Bathgate to celebrate Jayne and Martin's big day. It's first time I've been at the venue, but it was beautiful, and nice to spend a day with friends I don't get to see that often.

So what else has happened this month?

1. I joined the gym. 

2. I've become obsessed with Homeland and reading Harry Potter.

3. Shrek The Musical arrived at work meaning I got to take the cast to Edinburgh Castle for this photocall

London Trip: Camden, NFL and vegan cakes

I wanted to get the rest of my London photos up days ago, but I've not had time between work, being off work sick, and wanting to spend most of my time reading Harry Potter.

Aside from my Harry Potter adventures in the post below, the main reason we were down in London was to watch Miami Dolphins play at Wembley Stadium, but I also found some time to visit Cookies and Scream in Camden for lots of vegan cakes.

London Trip: Harry Potter Studio Tour

On Monday, I ran away to join Hogwarts. 

The Harry Potter Studio Tour in London was amazing. I've not read all the books (I'm halfway through the first one just now) and I've not even seen all the films, but I absolutely loved it.

All hail Macbeth

I'd be lying if I said my job didn't come with some perks. Earlier this year, I got to attend the opening gala of the Edinburgh International Film Festival and yesterday I walked down the red carpet at the premiere of Macbeth at the Festival Theatre.

We ended with great seats in the middle of the dress circle just 6 rows behind Mr Michael Fassbender. Since I was sitting on the aisle, he walked right past me on his way to and from his seat. While no one seems to believe me, I'm pretty sure he caught my eye when he was on his way out at the end of the film. 

I never studied Macbeth at school, so the story is one I'm not as familiar with as other people, even if I do know what it's all about. Aside from Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard giving incredible performances, the film was just beautifully shot on Skye and looked amazing.

The after party was held in the National Museum of Scotland which is one of my favourite buildings in Edinburgh. They had music, whisky cocktails and food which looked great, but wasn't vegan friendly so I was pretty starving when we left for some post  after party drinks in Paradise Palms.

The film opens in cinemas this Friday, so you definitely check it out if you get a chance.
